Right next to Sallie’s Restaurant & Snack Bar is Wittrup Motel, which opened on the same day in 1955 and which is also built by the American Sallie Zimmerhackel.

Wittrup Motel has special offers for accommodation of hosts and all guests when holding functions at Sallie’s Restaurant & Snack Bar.

Sallie had a Danish partner, Oscar Wittrup and, consequently, it was his name that was put on the motel while her name adorned the restaurant.

Despite the name, it was Sallie who gave the hotel its character. Today, both the restaurant and motel are run by Claus and Henrik Hansen whose maternal grandfather took over after Sallie back in the day.

The motel is the perfect place to stay overnight if you are on a trip or holiday on Zealand or in Copenhagen, or if you are attending a concert, party or other function. At Sallie’s Restaurant & Snack Bar you can enjoy the function without having to think about going directly home afterwards.

Denmark’s oldest motel - and in an American style

Wittrup Motel is Denmark’s oldest existing motel and just like the restaurant, the motel is both historic and unique. Old-fashioned and modern all at the same time. Several of the rooms have been renovated into 1950s style and the other rooms are under way, so Wittrup Motel will soon be an authentic, classic and historical American motel - with high-speed internet and TV.

There is a drive-in reception when you arrive and you can drive directly over and park right outside the door to your room.

At Wittrup there are four room categories:

Superior - the large rooms
Original - the refurbished 1950s rooms
Standard - classic motel rooms
Economy - rooms with separate bathroom and toilet off the corridor
